150.000 cake celebration

Two months ago, we celebrated with a cake that we had crossed the 100 000 threshold in our interactive, real-time engine for simulating pedestrians. Meanwhile, my team has boosted the engine’s performance by 50%, unlocking 150k real-time simulated pedestrians.

Due to corona times, crowds of 150K people may be rare, but being able to simulate a train station with 5 000 socially distancing pedestrians 30x real-time dramatically lowers the project time, which benefits usability.

The two Computer Science students from Utrecht University, who are working on this research at our startup, uCrowds BV, are using cpu-only algorithms.

Let’s stay positive and keep on celebrating the good things!
