Real-time streaming of simulations in your GIS-based digital twin with uConnect
We’ve developed a cutting-edge prototype that streams live crowd simulation data into various applications, including MapLibre, a web-based GIS viewer. This innovation is designed to provide crowd managers with crucial, real-time insights into crowd dynamics—supporting safer, more efficient, and successful event management.
Project Highlight
DATA4OOV pilot: This initiative is part of DATA4OOV, a data platform used by all Dutch safety regions. Many of these regions rely on the MapGallery GIS viewer, built on MapLibre. Our prototype seamlessly integrates with this viewer, offering easy, familiar access to crowd data directly in their office environment.
Real-time scenario demonstration: In the accompanying video, you’ll see two crowd simulation scenarios in Dutch cities, modeled in SimCrowds as digital twins. The simulations are streamed in real time to MapLibre, where dynamic changes—like road closures—are visualized instantly.
Technical Capabilities
Versatile data integration: Our system can integrate simulation data from any source. Currently, it connects with our standalone simulator, SimCrowds, and our headless simulation engine, TerraCrowds.
Advanced streaming: Through our uConnect framework, density maps are streamed in a standard GIS format to a GIS server or directly into external applications. It even streams positional and movement data of large crowds (up to 100,000 simulated pedestrians) in real time.
With this innovation, we’re bringing digital twins to life and making them accessible to end users!
