Evacuation Simulation in Assen - Wildfire Scenario

How do crowds react when a wildfire threatens a large event? During the 13th edition of the Learning Arena, organized for all Dutch safety regions and initiated by Veiligheidsregio Drenthe, we showcased a comprehensive demonstration of several innovations within Coalitie IGV (Information-Driven Security) and LOCC-KCR2.

In a realistic wildfire scenario at training ground De Haar in Assen, the Netherlands, the following technologies were integrated—prepared just one day before the event:

  • Avy drone footage for situational awareness

  • uCrowds’ SimCrowds simulation for evacuation insights

  • Kavel10’s photogrammetry data via Cesium OGC tiles

By combining these technologies, emergency responders gained real-time insights, enabling them to make better-informed decisions during crisis situations.

Remarkably, all data and simulations were created just one day before the event! The upcoming version of SimCrowds will support OGC tiles, making the integration process even faster and more seamless.

Do you have a use case where photogrammetry and crowd simulations could be combined? Let’s connect—reach out!
