Presentation at EPIC fest 2025 - TerraCrowds in Action
uCrowds has integrated their TerraCrowds engine into Unreal Engine 5.5. Roland Geraerts will present the plugin in the upcoming Epic Fest.
In this session, uCrowds explores the core design ideas of the TerraCrowds engine, including its integration with Unreal Engine components like MetaHumans and MassAI.
This session covers memory-oriented design, crowd logic for controlling characters, and the Explicit Corridor Map for efficient pathfinding. Other topics include best practices for writing (memory-oriented) high-performance code, offering insights into achieving speeds up to 100x faster than object-oriented approaches.
Come by and hear how Geraerts and his team designed an architecture that enables accurate pathfinding where NPCs move naturally and avoid obstacles effectively. You’ll see first-hand how Its multi-level planning architecture—from global route planning to local adjustments—enhances realism and control in simulations.
This session demonstrates how to effectively utilize the software in simulation scenarios and digital twins. Attendees will gain hands-on knowledge of working with the Unreal Engine plugin and see live demonstrations of its capabilities.
Are you interested in the details? Come to the Epic Fest 2025 in Orlando! The talk will be given at the Orange county convention center, North Session Room 1 (N310 AB), on 5 June, 11:45 AM - 12:45 PM.
A big thank you to the devs from uCrowds (Ricky, Demi and Mihai), Utrecht University (Chris, Christian, Luca, and Madhava) and the Epic team (Alban, Nikola, Mark and Walt) and Sébastien for making this possible.
