Test simulations on Feestje op de ring

At uCrowds, we’re proud to contribute to the IGV Fieldlab SAIL by providing real-time crowd simulation insights during the “Feestje op de Ring” – a highlight event celebrating 750 years of Amsterdam.

During this live test, our simulations ran in parallel with a new heat stress warning service developed by Analyze, KNMI - Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, and Veiligheidsregio Amsterdam-Amstelland. By integrating real-time crowd movement predictions with environmental data in the MapGallery digital twin, we helped assess where preventive safety measures—such as additional shade or water—might be needed.

Running the simulation “in the shadows” of a real event is a critical step in building trust in data-driven safety tools—without disrupting operations. These test moments give us valuable feedback and prepare us for larger-scale events like SAIL 2025, where real-time decision support will be key.
