SAIL Amsterdam

After 10 years, SAIL Amsterdam is finally back! Over the next five days, the City of Amsterdam will welcome more than 2 million visitors, hundreds of ships, and a tightly coordinated program of 200+ events, making it Europe’s largest free public event.

Organizing and securing an event of this scale requires more than logistics alone. It also requires innovation, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology. That’s where the IGVFieldlab comes in: a unique partnership between public and private organizations working together to explore how digital twins, data-driven insights, and crowd simulations can contribute to safer and more enjoyable large-scale gatherings.

At uCrowds, we are proud to play a key role by providing advanced crowd simulations that feed into the digital twin of Amsterdam. By simulating different scenarios in real-time, such as bottlenecks or changes in visitor flow, our technology gives safety professionals the insights they need to make proactive decisions.

Yesterday, there was national news coverage from NOS of SAIL, where our CEO, Roland Geraerts, was proudly present in the item :-). It’s great to see the digital twin is recognized not only by event organizers and safety professionals, but also by a national audience.

This is a milestone for the IGV Fieldlab and for everyone involved. A big thank you to our partners and colleagues who continue to push boundaries with creativity, expertise, and teamwork. Together, we’re learning from practice and shaping the future of safe, data-driven events.
